AFFINITYS
Best Opportunity For Community fundraising
Wealth
is the means, and people are the ends. All our material riches will
avail us little if we do not use them to expand the opportunities
of our people.
John
F. Kennedy, January 11, 1962
What
is Affinity National Promotions?
AFFINITY
is a promotional and talent agency located in San Francisco, California.
AFFINITY is not affiliated with any modeling schools or fee-based
services. AFFINITY is not associated with any adult services or
entertainment companies. AFFINITY's only mission is to provide temporary,
part time, independent contracts for work. AFFINITY contracts out
promotional work to men and women, generally from age 18 and up.
Occasionally, AFFINITY will hire mature adolescents in appropriate
promotional assignments.
HOW
WOULD A COMMUNITY GROUP BENEFIT
BY WORKING WITH AFFINITY?
Right
now, various individuals fill many of AFFINITY's national promotions:
homemakers, college students, theatrical talent, models and other
workers who seek extra part-time flexible work. Here at AFFINITY,
we take pride in our ability to provide flexible work hours for
those individuals trying to bridge the financial gap between their
income and their needs.
AFFINITY
is expanding so rapidly and has so many large job contracts that
we have decided to expand our mission, as well. We believe that
AFFINITY's mission should be much broader than merely to help individuals
meet their financial goals. We would like to use the incredible
financial resources at our disposal to help communities. What better
way to help various communities than to assist their community centers
and spiritual centers of worship?
We
have seen and experienced the generosity of temples and community
services that reach out to the poor, help needy children receive
food and clothing, assist with schooling and job placement, summer
camp and many other worthwhile programs.
Many
of the goods being promoted with AFFINITY's service are not 'necessary'
to human survival. However, we believe the money provided by these
promotional services could be put to good use providing the necessities
of life to your membership and community.
WHAT
IS THE RELATIONSHIP OF AFFINITY
TO THE PROMOTIONAL WORKERS?
AFFINITY
is a "broker" of work contracts submitted to our agency
by commercial businesses and marketing companies representing those
businesses. Here is an example of how we work.
The
"Blue Sky" Spring Water company would like to promote
its new line of distilled water products. It then contacts a marketing
company to "roll out" a promotion that will bring Blue
Sky Water to the public's attention. This includes "live"
promotions where men and women are sent to various public locations
to provide free samples of the Blue Sky Water and also perhaps,
to get people to sign up for a sweepstakes, mailing list, etc.
The
marketing company then contacts the AFFINITY National Promotions
Division and pays a commission for our procurement of talent. AFFINITY
then contacts various men and women to work on these promotions.
These men and women are often chosen from among models, actors,
and other theatrical types. These kinds of people are used because
they are generally considered well groomed, personable, assertive
and outgoing.
AFFINITY
also uses non-theatrical men and women who enjoy the challenge of
live promotional spokesmodel work and are interested in earning
extra income on a flexible schedule.
THE
ADVANTAGES OF AN AFFINITY FUND-RAISER
Many
churches, sororities, fraterneties and community groups put together
fundraisers in order to raise much-needed cash. These ideas include:
book sales, bake sales, raffle, bingo, carnivals, appeals for donations.
Let's
review each of these to evaluate their effectiveness:
- Bake
sales: Some personal expenditure required by members. Success
depends on how many people show up. Therefore, there may be some
advertising costs, photocopying costs for flyers etc.
- Book
sales: Requires advertising. See above.
- Raffles:
requires that members sell tickets to various individuals outside
the church. Can be a good money raiser but depends on social network
of members.
- Bingo:
A good method of raising money, mostly from church members. Requires
some advertising.
- Carnivals:
Could be a great fund-raiser, but there are many physical dangers
and liabilities.
- Appeals
for donations: Can be very successful but generally requires consistent
effort and are often hit or miss.
ADVANTAGES
OF PROMOTIONAL FUND-RAISERS FOR YOUR
ASSOCIATION OR COMMUNITY GROUP
A
great deal of potential church funds are currently being given away
to various individuals at these promotions all over the U.S.A. Why
not take advantage of a fund-raisers dream come true? Here's how
it would work:
An
independent contract is drawn up with willing members of your group.
This contract would allow the work they performed as a promotional
spokesmodel to be paid directly to the the community service, charity,
sorority, building funds, etc. The community group and AFFINITY
would then schedule these members in our large promotions at $10.00
or more per hour. Naturally, AFFINITY would continue to receive
its regular commission on these promotional assignments, as this
is how an agency proceeds in business.
For
example, on one weekend day (that would not interfere with your
group schedule), AFFINITY might easily have a promotion at an auto
racetrack for a credit card company that required 25 people at 8
hours per day. Let's look at the potential funds raised on that
one day.
Twenty-five
members paid at $10 dollars per hour = $250 dollars per hour. $250
dollars X 8 hours equals $2,000 dollars. Your association, in
a matter of eight hours, would raise two thousand dollars. You
can see that if your members worked for two days, your group could
easily raise $4,000 dollars in one week.
Who
does AFFINITY Work with?
AFFINITY
will only contract for service with reputable marketing companies
and commercial businesses. Some of the clients we have represented
include MBNA Visa, Dove Chocolate, 7UP, and Hewlett Packard.
Where
does affinity work?
AFFINITY
provides contracts for work wherever marketing companies request
it. The following list represents just a few of the locations in
which we have contracted for talent:
Baseball
Stadiums, Football Stadiums, Hockey Arenas, Auto Racetracks, Street
Fairs and Festivals, Conventions, Boat Shows, Expositions, Trade
Shows, Bookstores, Musical Concerts, Nightclubs, Computer and Business
Retail Outlets, County Fairs.
how
does payment work?
AFFINITY
encourages companies to pay within seven days Because AFFINITY is
a broker for marketing companies and not the actual pay source,
we cannot dictate the terms of payment to the companies that procure
our services. The standard period for payment on most promotions
is 30 to 60 days. While this may appear to be an unusually long
waiting period, it may be helpful to remember that these companies
are not "employers" of your members but are "contracting"
for their services. Therefore, the invoice sent to the marketing
agency is considered a "bill for service" and not a request
for paychecks. As with your telephone or credit card bills, these
companies assume that they have at least 30 days to pay.
It's
also important to remember that while AFFINITY is aggressive about
receiving payment, we are not legally liable for any payment not
received. We do contract with a collection agency in case of non-receipt
of payment. However, we have never had to use the collection agency
thus far and have always been paid on every assignment.
What
will affinity expect from your members?
AFFINITY
would like to create a valuable form of fund-raising for your community
group and is eager to begin working with your members to increase
your funds for member and community services. In order to accomplish
this goal, AFFINITY has created a list of qualifications for participation
in these fund raising events. They are as follows:
- Pleasant
personality: Working on a promotion is more than just looking
well groomed. AFFINITY promotional men and women are social, assertive
and enjoy meeting new people. They appreciate the challenge of
discussing products and services with customers.
- Grooming:
AFFINITY models make sure they are well-groomed and wearing appropriate
clothing and/or makeup.
- Courtesy:
Promotional talent sometimes have to face the challenge of unwanted
attention, or other undesirable behavior. AFFINITY Models face
this challenge by always conducting themselves with integrity
and treating others respectfully.
- Professionalism:
Punctuality and dependability are words we like to use when describing
our models. AFFINITY Models are always there when you need them.
- Salesmanship:
The special style and personalities of promotional men and women
are often utilized to promote clothing, perfume or other specialty
items. AFFINITY Models and Talent recognize that they represent
a business and positively influence customers toward products.
- Context-Appropriate
Behavior: While we hope to increase the positive influence of
your group, association or community service in your area, we
do not wish to misrepresent our clients or their services. Therefore,
members must absolutely avoid any behavior that indicates proselytizing
or discussing their personal beliefs, group membership or any
subject unrelated to the promotion while on the job.
Build
a stronger foundation in your community
By
creating a relationship with AFFINITY, your members can assist you
in creating stronger community relationships through increased funding.
- Create
a way for your members to feel good about giving back to the association,
community group or congregation without having to dig deeper into
their finances.
- Save
money on advertising your fund-raiser
- Save
time and effort.
- Save
money on the entire event. All your members need to do is drive
to the event, sign in, work, and sign out. It's that simple.
How
to participate in the affinity fund-raiser program
In
order to qualify for this program, AFFINITY would like to request
that you mail or fax a general description of how church, member
or community funds are used. We do not need a financial breakdown,
only a general idea of how the money is distributed so that AFFINITY
can make an informed decision as to which groups it wishes to
include in the program.
